Cheerleaders are loud, but they don’t screech. Think about your lower belly. Take a deep breath, still thinking about that lower belly and trying to fill it and your lungs with air. Imagine you are filling the bottom of your lungs, then middle, then the top. You should feel a difference in how open your throat is as compared to when you do normal shallow breathing.

Now expel the air in a big short gust with a big push from your lower belly. (Your stomach may actually jump out a bit when you do this.) When you have mastered this, try doing it at the same time you yell the word “Go!” If your voice comes out a bit deeper and very loud, then you’ve nailed the official cheerleader sound.

While the voice is important, don't forget to give your motions equal time. Work hard on getting that clean, snappy look.
